Centre for Information Ethics and Public Policy



The Centre for Information Ethics and Public Policy (CIEPP) is a not-for-profit organisation exclusively committed to the following three Objects:

    1. to promote the study of information ethics as a fundamental domain of ethical inquiry;

    2. to monitor and assess the societal and economic impacts of public policy on the development and use of information and communication technologies; and

    3. to undertake or commission quality research, teaching and publishing activities or projects consistent with Objects 1 & 2.


Specifically CIEPP has long-term interests in the following areas:

In addition CIEPP is committed to 'horizon scanning' for ethical issues emerging from new developments in computing and communication technologies.


CIEPP is currently located in Symi, 85 600, Dodecanese, Greece.

2013-17: Centre based in Cwmdu, near Crickhowell, in the Brecon Beacons National Park, Wales, UK.


The Centre’s Director is Dr Ian M. Kenway, a former Honorary Research Fellow in Ethics and ICT at Cardiff University (2004-19).
